I often encountered whining in reviews that the double-sided screw for mounting the upper basket frame on the lower platform was "too short". But that's not the case! The only thing wrong is the instructions. They say to take a flathead screwdriver and pull the screw all the way down and then attach the post. It won't be possible to do it. I screwed it into the platform just enough to hook securely, then I screwed on the post and there was just enough bolts for the post to clamp the bolt. Then the post was rotated and both ends of the bolt tightened as much as possible, sucking the post tightly to the platform. No screwdriver is required, and you certainly don't need to go to the hardware store or call the manufacturer to get a similar but longer screw. What else can I report? Of course I'd like a plain fabric, not this sticky fabric, but maybe one day I'll restore it. And when asked if the shelves were solid wood the answer was that they are, which is why I went with this half price one that had cardboard tubes with plastic plugs - it has cardboard tubes with plastic plugs. So I am very annoyed that I spent money on an expensive tower and still got poor quality. The shelves are also cardboard so it stinks of formaldehyde but we painted the open part with sealant. There is nothing we can do about the smoke escaping through the fabric, except keep the window next to the tower open until winter forces us to close it. At least it stinks less than a carpeted tower. The baskets appear to have real wood bottoms, which I may have seen in a picture that led me to believe it was all real wood. No, it's your usual cheap nasty cat tower. So don't get your hopes up. The good thing is that it feels heavy enough not to tip over, unlike the Armarkat I had years ago and my 6lb kitty keeps falling. And the glue used does not emit gases like this brand. At least that's better than them! And of course the cups are cute. The pillows are too thin for them so I plan to open them up and add some padding when I get around to it. Remember that the center of the top basket is quite offset from the center of the base. So if you want to squeeze him around a bedside table or other obstacle, it can be a useful strategic detail. or if you forget and plan for it to be easy, you may be disappointed.
