The width is perfect if you don't have a water bottle.

Large, packed, won't fit under an airplane seat. I bought it to use as a carry-on that fits under the seat. The width is perfect if you don't have a water bottle in the side pocket. A bag bursting would be a problem but I have a week's supply of clothes, shoes (2pcs), toiletries and more and it wasn't full.
