Review on BumGenius Freetime One Size Closure Moonbeam by Debbie Ziliak

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for the wallet and the environment!

When our son was 7 months old we decided to switch from disposable diapers to cloth diapers. I was tired of wasting money and rubbish and my brother gave us eight BumGenius diapers to use on their boys. Of the eight we were given, six were pocket-sized and two were all-in-ones. Without knowing anything, I immediately assumed that I wanted the convenience of monoblocks. While that turned out to be true, they also had their downsides and I now prefer the pocket style. The pocket style is less leaky and can be double filled (we double the filling overnight). These two things make it the best choice for us. However, I use all-in-ones all day and they're great as long as we swap them out before they get too wet. The size of bumGenius is very simple. Just choose the right size for your child and you're done (I checked the bumGenius website for size recommendations). At first I assumed that you put them on like any other diaper. Seems obvious right? Not correct! Cloth diapers should be worn differently than disposable diapers. If it's put on correctly, you're much less likely to leak. I found this YouTube video VERY helpful: (.) Washing is very easy! I do a prewash (quick wash in my machine) in a cool place (cool water helps prevent stains from setting) with no detergent and Nature's Miracle in the bleach drawer of my HE machine. Then I wash vigorously with detergent (regular tide for HE, no more than half what the measuring cup says) and Nature's Miracle in the bleach compartment. Hang to dry (open inserts when engaged for faster drying) and you're good to go. I've been using them for over a month now and have no residual odors or stains and have never used bleach.
