I want to do this bread box justice. It's easy on the eye, feels firm and seals well. BUT. In certain circumstances (e.g. if you have bread in a box and the wood gets a little damp from the bread) the sliding door is difficult to open. It opens, but only if you use both hands - one hand holds the handle to open the door, while the other hand has to hold the bread bin against the tabletop. It may seem insignificant, but quite often I try to open a bread box while holding something with one hand. like the bread that I will put back in it. So the constant use of two hands causes irritation. Apparently this is a chronic problem with their design because they specifically mention it in their literature and say you can fix this problem by putting some wax on the edges of the sliding door to lubricate it. . It helps, but it's still a problem, it just takes the problem from very annoying to annoying all the time. What annoys me is that I assumed they could just change the size of the door or groove a bit to fix this problem, but they didn't. If you plan to screw this box to a table this problem doesn't bother you and that's it and otherwise it's a very good box but if not plan on constant two-handed use.
