So far I am very impressed. I've only had this watch for a few days and before that I only had a mechanical watch. However, this watch exceeded my expectations. First, the construction looks and feels very solid. It's all metal and glass, plastic isn't visible. The dial has sharp detail and not the fuzzy clutter I see on some watches. The hands are also beautifully detailed and the serpentine style gives this watch an antique look. I am very impressed with the optics. The watch has been aged to look like an antique. The brass looks worn. The reverse is textured with dark aging in the crevices, giving the feel of a piece that has been in many hands for many years. The texture even looks worn in places, like an antique piece of brass after years of use. Looks like a used but very neat watch. It even looks like there is some oxidization at the base of the rod, like an antique piece. The chain also looks old. The links are made from a bent piece of brass, which preserves the vintage look of the watch. It has a clasp at both ends so it can be detached from the watch if needed. EDIT: the lobster clasp on the chain broke; The spring is out and won't close. It doesn't bother me as I haven't used the chain anyway. As is usual with watches from this period, the dial and hands are not illuminated. The style is contemporary but not garish. This is a mechanical watch. I don't know what this movement is, but it beats at 21,600 beats per hour, or 6 beats per second. The two sub-dials on the front also work (which I wasn't expecting given the price and description). The left dial is a 24-hour dial that shows at a glance whether it's morning or evening. The right dial is another seconds hand (it has seconds in the center and seconds on the sub-dial), although the two seconds hands are not in sync. Power reserve is sufficient. Twenty turns of the crown (that's about all it takes) provides 29 hours of operation, which is standard for most mechanical watches. It also starts automatically. Wearing it throughout the day gave me another 5 hours of energy. While it wasn't enough to power the watch on its own, I carried the watch in my pocket (that little pocket I never used) so it wouldn't move as much as a wristwatch. It would be enough to wear the watch a little longer if I forgot to wind it in the morning. My watch is about 26 seconds off per day as measured by my time tracking app. Far from chronometer level, but quite acceptable for my purposes, especially considering the price. Overall I am very impressed with this watch. This is exactly what I was looking for, a watch to wear with my portable sundial/compass and sextant, all brass and all nautical themed. EDIT: So I just accidentally dropped my watch. It bounced off my knee, hit the wooden chair, bounced off the desk drawers, hit the wall, and landed on the carpet. Not a scratch and the clock is still ticking. I'm not saying you should do what I do on a regular basis (my heart almost stopped while it was happening), but this watch can withstand some abuse.
