Review on πŸ”§ ACDelco GM 214-1105 Vapor Canister Purge Valve: Top-Quality Original Equipment Component by Paul Monzon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The whole repair was not very difficult and required no special tools

Installed on a 2004 Chevrolet Express 3500 passenger car with a 6.0 liter engine. The air cleaner assembly was removed from the throttle body for more clearance, but was able to install it from the front, although the screw was difficult to get to. The whole repair wasn't very complicated and didn't require any special tools. I used a ratchet, an extension, a valve screw bushing and screws to attach the air cleaner assembly to the front of the engine bay. And a screwdriver to loosen the clamp holding the air intake hose to the throttle body. The whole process took a little over 30 minutes. NOTE: This is an integral part of the EVAP emission control system. If in doubt, seek advice from a professional car mechanic! The first symptoms were that the car was difficult to start right after filling up. In my uninformed opinion, this is because the solenoid in the original purge valve was stuck open, allowing fuel vapor into the intake before starting, resulting in an overly rich mixture that prevented starting. The check engine light was not on and the engine control module was not giving any codes. Replacing the flush valve with this OEM product fixed the problem immediately.
