A good product, I advise you to try it.

The lens is the freshest, bought in March of this year, at a price of around 95,000. Compared to the first version, G2 has grown significantly both cosmetically and technically, that's for sure. It is worth saying that for the sake of buying it, good "native" Sony primes, 85mm f / 1.8 and 55mm f / 1.8 Zeiss, went on sale, but for me, versatility in travel photography is more important than the quality of "fixes". I don’t know if it’s worth changing the first version for it, but as the first one bought, this is a wonderful acquisition. If there is money.)

Pros

- Optical performance: f/2.8, nice picture, nice bokeh, geometry, open sharpness, contrast ratio, fast and accurate autofocus - Production materials: good not easily soiled plastic and rubber rings - Good, securely fixed hood, caps (the back does not fall off) - Dimensions and weight, good weight distribution on the Sony A7 III - Cost compared to Sony products - The presence of a custom button on the lens - Availability of a USB-C socket for lens adjustment and maintenance, as well as free proprietary software - the front lens has a protective coating that promises to keep it pristine - there is a rubber "skirt" at the place of attachment to the mount, protection against dust is declared (the first version suffered noticeably from this) and splashes, of course, there is no talk of shooting in the rain.

Cons

Unfortunately, there is also a small fly in the ointment in this barrel of honey. Perhaps the firmware is still damp (v.1.0). On my Sony A7 III camera (current firmware 4.01), the lens noticeably drains the battery, even if the camera is turned off. How it can be is a secret to me. Apparently, the problem climbs out not always and not at all. Studying the history of Tamron lens firmware, a few years ago the Tamron 90mm had exactly the same problem with some other cameras, they decided to release the firmware. At the moment, except for 1.0 there is no fresh firmware. After shooting, you have to take out the battery. I had to contact support and SC. About the result - in Well, 24mm is missing, it seems to be only a 4mm difference, but it is noticeable. And yet, from apertures of 3.2-4.0, the operation of the diaphragm is really audible, this is true, although not too loud, but the more closed the aperture, the more audible. Those who object to this most likely do not pay attention to it or have hearing problems. I don't care, I don't make videos.)
