I bought this to keep my hot mulled wine hot for Thanksgiving (I wanted to make it the night before so it would be ready all day the next day). I've read some conflicting reviews about whether this keeps the liquid hot enough to safely consume the next day, but decided to give it a try. First I did a test run with hot water. Sunday, 11:00 a.m.: Pour freshly boiled water into an airy pot filled to the brim. Sunday, 10:00 p.m.: Tested water. Too hot! Monday 9:00 a.m.: Water tested again. Still too hot to touch! (Almost 24 hours later, mind you.) Monday, 2:00 p.m.: Another water test. Still very hot; barely touched her. Monday, 4:00 p.m.: Checked the water again. Still very hot; could hardly touch it. At that point I stopped testing. This kettle kept the water very hot (i.e. hot enough to make tea) for almost 30 hours when I stopped monitoring it. !). I poured about a cup of hot water (they emptied it) just before putting the wine on. This step was probably unnecessary, but still a good idea. In short: fantastic air pot!
