I bought two of these to lock up my gun case when I flew to Texas. They are relatively durable and US Security was able to open the lock to inspect my guns as usual (and everything was fine). Depending on your airport, you might just be forced to open it, as was the case on my return flight. They're also good for suitcases, as TSA can pick the lock if they want to look inside. One thing to keep in mind is that this particular model isn't very big, so someone could remove the lock instantly if they wanted to. People are also known to be given TSA keys so that non-TSA people can unlock them. I would only rely on it for flight purposes. If you're locking something that supports a thicker lock, you should get a thicker lock. The tote bag I mentioned earlier required the same size, so it fit the bill.
