Review on Logitech Wireless Speaker Z515 for Laptops, iPad, and iPhone: Powerful Portable Sound by Victoria Flores

Solid bluetooth speaker

I use this speaker in my shop to listen to Pandora, Tune-In Radio and Google Listen. Fit and finish are excellent. The plastic feels thick and durable. The volume is excellent. I'd compare the sound quality to that of a decent TV - solid mids but no extreme highs or lows (so voices are clear but you won't hear heavy glass breaking or explosions on movie soundtracks). At $55 this is a great value. The speaker supports two wireless profiles (e.g. 1 Bluetooth device plus built-in USB dongle or 2 Bluetooth devices). If you have more devices, you will need to pair again when switching. Switching between Bluetooth and USB dongle sometimes requires some fiddling. But there's nothing wrong with that. I wish the speaker had a thicker base (so there was no need for a folding stand), a carrying handle on top (like a boombox), and a standard micro-USB charger. I haven't found anything like this yet. I used to have an Altec Lansing SoundBlade. It was very similar to this speaker, including the kickstand. But sound quality wasn't great (there was a simulated 3D surround sound that sounded great at first but got tiring and couldn't be turned off), workmanship wasn't great, scratched easily, wasn't that loud, didn't have any rechargeable battery and made all sorts of loud and annoying beeps when turned on. But it had a microphone (so you could use it as a speakerphone, but I never needed it) and play/stop/forward/backward buttons (so I could control my phone through the speaker). The store with the red bullseye currently stocks this item, so you can view it in person if you'd like. But their price is much higher. - UPDATE - I found two things. First, when the speaker is on, it doesn't automatically connect to my HTC Evo. I have to go into my phone settings and connect manually. Second, when I connect this speaker and the Blueant Q2 Bluetooth headset to my HTC Evo at the same time, the speaker connects to media audio and the headset connects to phone audio. So Pandora, Tune-In and Listen play through the speaker while phone calls go through the headset. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT!
