Like many other homes, our living room had no overhead lighting and using floor or table lamps didn't help. After much searching I found this I chose these lamps Inexpensive, well-made metal body and clips are not plastic like some, the ability to change color, easy installation, beautiful appearance, low power consumption, the flashlights themselves are thin, complete unit (no need buying a jar, cover and bulb separately), LEDs don't heat up, can touch the insulation Cons The template provided is useless, as mentioned, it makes a hole too big. I made a 6" hole that gave me a nice clean fit. When the light goes out, you can't just change the lightbulb. Will they continue? the time will show. Easy installation depends on your knowledge and experience. My setup involved removing the power supply from the existing line, dumping the new switch wire and box into the wall for the dimmer, and turning on the lights. Luckily I had access to the attic and at 68 I can still (barely) crawl into it. They were no easier or more difficult to install than other modified cans. I tested all the lights and boxes to make sure each was working properly and didn't want any of them to fail after installation. I also went online and used the recessed fixture spacing calculator, put in the length and width of the room, it shows how many fixtures you need to put in for adequate lighting. I'm not an electrician but have been working with electricians since I was young. I like them and would probably buy them again if needed. just my thoughts We wish you every success with the installation. ALOHA
