Review on Hurst 3916030 Billet Plus Short Manual Shifter for Chevrolet Camaro V8/V6 by Robert Chandrasekar

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great. certainly. This is a Hurst

I installed this on my 2010 Challenger (different model) 2 months after buying the car in 2010 and most recently for my son's 2010 Camaro SS of the year bought . This switch makes a HUGE difference in the overall feel and driving experience of these new muscle cars. The shift knob has been shortened by almost half, giving a positive and crisp feel in every gear. I will never go back to the stock switch once installed. Hurst have also started supplying a 'noise reduction kit' as they tend to carry a bit more gear noise due to the type of clutch material used. I have never installed a damping kit in my car. I notice a little more transmission noise when sitting at a traffic light. But that's what radio volume is all about :-) Seriously, that's a known problem with these newer, more robust switches, so it's becoming a matter of personal preference and you can read a lot about it on some automotive forums (both Challenger and Camaros).

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
