Overall, this is an easy surveillance system to install and use. The only really difficult step is the wiring from the camera to the DVR. The cables for our cameras were too short and we had to buy 200ft cables from Amazon. As far as we can see, however, there's no drop in image quality, although the seller warns that there might be. The seller communicates well and answers questions via email. They respond quickly and provide useful links. Another downside, although not huge, is that cameras are difficult to align once installed. Overall we like this system and do not regret our purchase. I would recommend this system without hesitation. Please note that this is a wired system and no internet is required although it can be used. A smartphone is not required for installation and use, but can be used. The only time you'll need internet and/or a smartphone is when you're remotely viewing your cameras. It plays audio when it's live, but it won't play unless you have mics connected to each camera that needs audio. This system comes with an internal 1TB hard drive. This system can handle up to 6TB internal hard drive per vendor.
