Ideal for downmixing a multi-channel digital signal to analogue stereo

This is exactly what I need to make my stereo soundbase work smarter with more than 5.1 channel audio streams from my Roku. Since neither my Roku, TV audio out, or speaker base can decode DTS or AC3 to analog stereo, I often found it difficult to play the audio from DLNA-streamed movies on my non-home theater TV. I've tried downmix solutions with Serviio and Plex, but there are times when software hacking isn't effective. However, since installing this little decoder, all my movies and streams so far have played pure stereo sound through my speaker base, with the center and subwoofer channels appropriately mixed as needed, while retaining the original 5.1 audio stream for my more demanding home theater. In order for my HDHomeRun over-the-air TV audio to be broadcast in stereo on the HDHomeRun Roku channel, I had to adjust my Roku's audio settings to enable Dolby Digital. The HDMI output setting had to be set to Dolby Digital, Channels = 2 and the audio output to Auto (DD and DTS). This is the secret sauce. My gadget chain is HDHomeRun --> Wi-Fi --> Roku --> HDMI --> Panasonic TV --> optical --> this DD/DTS decoder box --> RCA --> Pioneer speaker base. Before making this change I'm pretty sure the audio on the TV has been stopped for DTS streams. I think DTS (company) believes that every TV, anywhere, should be hooked up to a licensed AV receiver with DTS decoding, and therefore their restrictive copy protection should be transparent to anyone honestly playing their content. Keyword middle finger. Since HDCP makes DTS audio over HDMI difficult, it seems necessary to force Dolby Digital to get the audio streaming to my optical cable and eventually to my speakers. In any case, I wish I had found this little box many years ago. I love it! And the best part is that I don't have to explain to my wife and daughter how to use it. It's automatic.
