I got this after my friend showed me how to use a curling iron to add volume to her fine hair. I was skeptical and scared that I have curly hair and look like I'm from the 80's. LAUGH OUT LOUD! But her hair looks so beautiful and straight, so I decided to give it a try. With free returns, there was nothing to lose. Oh god it worked! My hair retains volume throughout the day and I don't have to use a lot of products. In order not to look like curls, I divided the hair into 3 layers. I move the top 2 layers of hair to one side and use the S plate at the roots of the bottom layer of hair. I only crimp half of the wire. Then I move on to the second layer and do the same. Then I lay the flat iron plate back down and flatten the top layer and halves of the other layers that weren't crimped. Wait a minute or two for your hair to cool, then brush it out. Depending on your hair, you will most likely have to play with it to find what works best for you. I like that you can choose the temperature. Remember that the temperature on the device is displayed in Celsius, not Fahrenheit. The numbers on the device range from 160° Celsius (low) to 220° Celsius (high), which corresponds to 320° Fahrenheit (low)-430° Fahrenheit (high). This initially led me to a dead end. The plates can be easily removed. The set includes a glove, which is great if you need to change plates while styling your hair. Just make sure you have something to stand the hotplate on when you take it out of the iron so you don't damage the countertop. I am very happy with this crimping iron and the price is great!
