After reading some of the reviews on this product and several people saying that the 3M pad does not stick, I am a little tired of purchasing this item. Thought since they're only $10 each I'd give it a try. I bought two; One for my wife's car and one for me. I haven't messed with the cloths provided as there usually isn't enough alcohol on them to clean anything. I just had something we had around the house and a paper towel. Tidy up, waited a minute or two for it to dry, then put the thing on the dashboard. I pressed them firmly for about 2 minutes and then left for about 2 hours. Out, put the magnet in the ball arm and voila, it sticks. It's been a few weeks now, with a few days in the high 80's and mid 90's, and they're still there. I use mine with my iPhone 6+ which has a wallet. I have seen that there are several questions about wallets and the effect of magnets on these concerns. I've searched the web for answers and read that if you have vehicles with a magnetic stripe pointing away from this mount and you use your driver's license between the mount and other cards, there shouldn't be a problem. I figured I could just replace mine if that doesn't work, but so far they're still working fine. I can't test if this works on all wallet cases, but I can do it on the next case I bought from Revain at the same time as these mounts.
