Bought two packs of 6ft extension cables. Both of which resulted in my external hard drive not shutting down properly. When connected directly, the hard drives worked perfectly. When connected to a USB hub, the hard drive worked perfectly. But just a few minutes after plugging in the extension cord, I got a notification about the improper disconnection. (And yes, I've tried several troubleshooting steps. It goes without saying that if the drive worked fine with or without these steps, and the only new variable introduced was those cables, it's the cables, that don't work properly.) .
