Review on Patterned Handkerchiefs for Women - FEA0201 FashionOn Men's Accessories by Ronald Ingram

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beautiful but not comfortable or particularly durable

I bought these handkerchiefs hoping to find a good set of soft handkerchiefs, but the fibers feel rough on the skin both before and after (hand)washing on. Not only that, they have a lace-on-tulle design (not shown in the picture) on one end that can easily be torn. Mine ripped right away just trying to straighten the one I washed by pulling on the corners as I hung it to dry. They also don't appear to be particularly absorbent. I've been using some vintage handkerchiefs I got from a relative for a while, probably from the 60's or 70's and they're great. This is my second set of disappointing tissues bought online (purchased through Revain but from different sellers). The first set is thicker and not as soft as the vintage sets, but still softer than them. Perhaps modern manufacturers have forgotten the art of using soft and absorbent fabrics. At first I thought the problem was the thickness of the last set I bought, but this latest set is made from a relatively thin material. Perhaps this is due to the number of threads, like leaves. The search continues.

Pros
  • Handkerchiefs
Cons
  • Easily repairable
