Review on ProMS Investor by Todd Cowdrey

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The app is very limited in what it can do.

This software is pretty much a waste of money. You can only manage your investment portfolio online, but if you are serious about managing your portfolio, why would you use a cloud-based platform? If you need to see your portfolio details anywhere else, such as print out a paper copy, then it won't work for you. Also, you cannot trade in any of the securities on their platform, and if you do trade, the platform is so complicated that you'll spend hours figuring out how to navigate it. Finally, the pricing model is absolutely ridiculous. For instance, let's say you buy $100 worth of shares in Company X. You're billed $2,000. That means that if you invest $10,000 a year, you'd be paying them $20,000. Now imagine that your company goes bankrupt and you lose all your investments. In this case, you'll owe them another $2,000, because you didn't sell those shares before they went under. If your company does well, however, you'll still be paying them. Not only is the price structure unfair, it also gives the impression that you are paying for something you're never going to use.

Pros
  • It's easy to setup and deploy
  • There is a free version available which is good for small business
  • It's not too expensive and can fit in with most budgets
Cons
  • Most people who don't know what they're doing will end up deleting their apps and losing their settings and other important information.
  • The software is designed for investing, but it doesn't give you access to all the other features of a stock broker like trading.
