Review on Vintage Leather Rucksack Backpack for Travelers by Scott Mcgowan

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Real leather, but check carefully.

Was given to my wife for Christmas as her old leather Shoedazzle backpack died after more than five years. Shoedazzle didn't have a new similar style so that was the closest choice I found. The backpack is genuine leather and my wife hung it on one of the chairs to let it air out as it stunk when the package was opened. One day this week I noticed slime seeping between the pieces of leather sewn together. Then when I just held one of the shoulder straps and tried to wipe away the oozing liquid, which I assume is glue, a mixture of drying honey and the stuff they use to stick new credit cards onto paper. However, this yellowish sticky thing is not so easy to wipe off or remove. It's as if one of the shoulder straps came loose. never mind Buckle it back and then unbuckle it. Hm? Well, the buckle stop pin is too short to fit against the buckle ring, allowing the pin to move back and forth on either side of the buckle ring. This now makes the backpack a single strap as only one works and I am concerned that if used with nice clothing it will seep more when putting on. I've tried to save money by buying something from Wilson or Macy's Leather Shop for $250-$300. Not to mention that most bags in this color are masculine. Therefore, this backpack has not turned out as I had hoped.

Pros
  • This leather backpack can be used as a laptop backpack, hiking backpack, girl's backpack and large men's backpack.
