Confused that they will not work or install properly

I purchased these cartridges to replace the cartridges that came with my HP Color Laserjet Pro M180nw All-in-One Color Laser Wireless Printer. The originals lasted quite a long time so the new ones lasted many months. Just tried to install. But now they don't work. I've retraced my steps and I'm sure I installed it correctly. Got an error message saying the chip might be missing, but it's not. Any idea why I'm having this problem?
