Very easy (permanently) to connect the wire. You can use them as front or rear turn signals if you wish, or connect them to your rear license plate lights and use them under the rear bumper for ground effect lighting. I connected them to my parking/base running lights to use as daytime running lights and lit them at night when using my headlights and fog lights. They look very nice and are absolutely not waterproof. I bought a set and they died within a few months due to flooding. I took this set apart (both from the same company and lights) (just a couple of screws) and used an E6000 around the entire seam and used weatherproof/waterproof silicone gasket around the wire hole to seal it. tight. I had no problems this time.
