Review on πŸ“± Carson HookUpz 2.0 Universal Smartphone Optics Digiscoping Adapter IS-200 for Enhanced Binoculars, Spotting Scopes, Telescopes, Microscopes, Monoculars, and More by Logan Collier

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Easy to adjust Nice body for some reason Very reliable 3.5 stars Sometimes lets light through

I use this adapter with LG G8 and Celestron 8x42 adjustable eye relief binoculars. I used to have one of those binocular/phone adapters with metal screws and they were useless and unusable. I haven't had a chance to use it outdoors yet, but I tested it indoors. It looks pretty intimidating at first, but once you figure out that the 3 adjustable elements are 2 clips and a tension spring (phone holder width adjustment) it's pretty easy, especially since there's a cutout for the camera . Everything else is just aligning your phone's camera with the notch. My particular phone has the cameras in the middle so it's a bit awkward and doesn't use the vertical clamp to stabilize the phone but feels secure even without it. chic, I don't think I use it, but it's good I think. I should note that I got a used Revain adapter for about $25-$30, so at that price I'm happy with the adapter. It looks like there are Phillips head screws where the clips are, so maybe if the clips aren't as secure you can tighten them up? It's a good option if it's designed for that. Update: So I used the adapter for the first time on a sunny day where I got pretty good results. But on a cloudy day, it was more of a blue light at the bottom of the image. Not sure if it's because the adapter fits the phone and binoculars or because it's cloudy? I've also noticed that with my binoculars and phone (Celestron 8x42, LG G8) most of the shots aren't perfect circles, a bit cropped on the right which is minor but a bit annoying. My Celestron binoculars have adjustable eye relief so the eyecup twists and turns. This adapter attaches to the eyecup and I am concerned that the weight of the phone + adapter will damage the eyecup.
