When the rugs arrived I tucked them into my underwear. You could assume they would need ironing, and that's normal. They wash and dry wonderfully. It didn't take me long to iron them and they look lovely on my kitchen counter. I ordered the beige and white sample and they really do look like I spent way more than they cost. I wouldn't put a hot pan on them as they don't really protect the table.
