I've had the infamous Cloud II headset for over 2 years and when I discovered my dog had been chewing on the mic it was time for a new one. Hyper X has always impressed me with their customer support and great attention to detail, so I knew they had high expectations when I saw Cloud Alpha. It turns out that after 2 days of use I came to the conclusion that the product has gotten much worse. The ear pads were much thicker and heavier, adding extra weight to my ears. After wearing it for a little over an hour, I found it very uncomfortable. The biggest disappointment was the sound as the right cup sounded louder than the left. I even tried balancing the tones to make them the same, but the tones on either side were unbalanced. Even at short intervals, the noise aggressively hit my ears and caused pain. Without a 7.1 bonus like my Cloud II offering, it's very difficult to enjoy immersive sound. However, I like the detectable audio jack cable feature and the onboard audio controls with mute button, as I've used them many times. But without a doubt, if you're looking for the best gaming headset, I recommend the Cloud II.
