Review on ๐Ÿš— Upgrade Your Volvo S60/V70 Dash with the Metra 99-9229G Single/Double DIN Dash Kit (Gray) by Richard Gilbert

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Reasonable option to fit an aftermarket head unit in your 2001-2004 Volvo P2

HU-613 in my 2004 Volvo V70 finally stalled (internal amplifier failed). Replace this archaic block with a more modern, non-original one. There aren't really many options for 2001-2004 P2 platform cars, but this unit seems to have the most positive reviews for the Revain. As other reviewers have noted, the fit and finish of this device isn't the best. The color doesn't quite match the factory plastic either. For $26, I can live with the color variation, but what frustrates me more is the device's poor fit. There are some gaps between the front panel, the dash itself, and the HVAC control box on the underside. Also, the overall quality isn't the best as the entire kit is made of plastic (including 4 bezel clips). But for the price I can mostly excuse it. to this kit to help hold the HVAC controls in place. The factory radio has very strong steel brackets riveted to the underside of the radio. The HVAC block snaps into place, holding the block flush with the radio. However, this aftermarket dash kit only has small plastic stops where these clips used to be. It is not possible to keep and stay in HVAC control. So I removed the steel brackets from the factory radio and designed a setup for this kit. The HVAC block now stays in place which is nice. In addition, the installation was quite easy. I plan on coloring this faceplate in the future to match the color of the HVAC box and the rest of the plastic, so I'm not worried about that. Overall, I rate this device 3/5 stars mainly because of the poor packaging. There are tools that make it easy to reverse engineer a factory radio to get accurate measurements (3D scanners are cheap enough and you can probably hire time on a fancy CMM to take measurements), and I'm not a good excuse to not sell a product. with insufficient equipment. This is of course my personal opinion. Your results may vary.
