I bought a pair of New Balance SM720 Men's Water Boots, Grey, 10 4E US just before hitting the road. Journey to Central America. I was looking for shoes that I could go to the beach in and wear as sandals while providing protection and support for my planned rafting trip. These shoes fit perfectly and have become my favorite shoes both during and after the holidays. They offer ample sole support but are otherwise very light and open to airflow from almost every direction, but especially on the top of the shoe. Perforations around the bottom edge near the sole drain water that gets into the shoe, keeping your feet relatively dry even when you're exercising on or near the water. The lacing system is extremely simple and user-friendly, all you have to do is tighten the laces and slide the plastic mechanism to the required length to lock them. The mechanism/excess lace is then conveniently tucked into the valve at the top of the tongue of the shoe. I usually put them on by pulling on the heel strap rather than using the mechanism at all. Overall I highly recommend them as they were very helpful and stylish. I even had a Hispanic guy offer to trade in my equally flashy (and probably significantly more expensive) pair of sneakers after seeing my own. Please note that like the other reviewers I would recommend buying a shoe one size larger than you are used to. That's why I bought the 10 4E and while my feet aren't particularly wide, I find the regular size to be too narrow.
