I bought two of these lights to replace the 1980's 12v fluorescent lights that were installed in the cabin of my boat. So far I've been very happy with it. The light quality is warm white (around 2700Hz) and the four modes save power while I'm at anchor. Most importantly, these lights got my wife's approval, so she asked me to replace the rest of the lights with more of these lights. These lights have a fairly similar footprint, although slightly wider and shorter than the original ones. . (See Product Specifications.) These fasteners are flush mounted, so previous wiring holes cannot be used unless they match exactly. To avoid additional cuts in my boat's fairing, I simply added nylon spacers to allow the wiring to run between the bracket and the ceiling. I also replaced the standard screws with stainless pan head screws. Four screws are required to attach these brackets; but two screws will do the job. The light includes four modes. In the minimum setting, four blue LEDs provide a pleasant night light. Modes 2-4 activate LED arrays on white light boards. The lowest of these settings provides light equivalent to my previous 8 watt fluorescent lights. When all the light bars are on, the light easily illuminates the entire interior, and two of these lamps used together create a very comfortable warm atmosphere in the cabin.
