Review on Magpul Patrol Glove 2.0: Lightweight Tactical Leather Gloves for Enhanced Performance by Jason Rogness

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent gloves but not worth $50

Pros: The gloves fit my hands well, keep my sense of touch on the gun intact, and do an acceptable job to keep your hands warm in the winter rain. Cons: After putting these gloves on for the first time, I realized they had a serious design flaw. Inside each glove is a large seam that runs just above the end of the ball of the thumb on both hands (look at the photos and notice how the black leather fully encloses the tips of all the fingers except the thumb). At first I didn't feel the stitching, but after 20-30 rounds loaded I began to develop a hot spot on my right thumb that only got worse as the session progressed. There's nothing a person can't go through while shooting, but I expected more from a $50 glove that said "Magpul" on the outside. I mean seriously. Who doesn't think of something as simple as reloading a cartridge with your thumb in a glove designed and marketed specifically for shooting? Instead of feeling like serious shooting gloves, these gloves now look like they were beaten up in China/India for airsoft fans. After several attempts at the gesture, the phone finally registered what I wanted. Probably quicker than taking off the glove and using your finger, but nothing to worry about. However, I'd trade perfect touchscreen compatibility for finger warmth and extra hot barrel protection any day, so I don't hold screen issues against gloves. All things considered, these gloves will likely be returned. I'll try again just to make sure I can't think of any work, but I'm not holding my breath given the incredibly unfortunate placement of these stitches on my thumb. It's also a shame because I really liked these gloves until those thumb seams became a $50 problem.

Pros
  • Has a lightweight construction with premium leather palm and thumb insert for a better fit
Cons
  • Nothing
