I was hesitant to buy this at first as I didn't see anyone mentioning it as water repellent. But now I can report that it is! It tolerates light rain well and warms even in the snow. I ordered XL so I can wear a sweater underneath but I changed size to L and can still wear underneath. Going back to a new size online was also quick and easy. I'm 5ft 3" and about 200lbs and usually wear a size 14 dress. This jacket is very impressive for its price. I like the warmth around the neck and wrists of the felt material.
