I bought this thermos to replace the paper cups I used to buy in cafes. Have two of these. I've read that they are easy to hand wash and seal well. One of those things is true. Positive: Very good insulator! A hot drink stays hot for a long time! The sealing is also very good. It will not spill or leak. Holds 16 ounces of drink well. Cons: Really hard to wash. In fact, I don't think you can really clean it without washing your hands. Both the silicone bridge that forms the seal and the button mechanism can and will get caught. As mentioned in another review, settle for "fairly clean" for a button mechanism simply because it's difficult to take apart. I also doubt the durability of the silicone gasket, which can be periodically removed for cleaning. It took me a while to figure out that liquid could get in, but after using it for a while I noticed an old drink on the rim and was expecting a drink the other day. The recommended long soak in hot water is probably good, but it's not a particularly thorough cleaning method. Even if you forget to wash it for a few days, without a complete disassembly, cleaning it will be significantly more difficult. Also, the actual cup is quite small in diameter. It literally cannot be hand washed unless you have very small hands. A brush is required. The rim of the lid could be more comfortable for drinking, but that's just my preference. In conclusion, if you need a good travel mug for occasional use, especially considering using a drink holder, this could be a great choice! If you plan to use this on a daily basis I would look elsewhere.
