Decent quality but confusing

I wish this product came with instructions. I've searched the internet and found various articles and videos explaining how to use a diagonal tape template, but I'm still not sure how wide a strip of fabric should be cut for each template size. Different websites give different numbers for each manufacturer's size. I think I'll have to take a few scraps of fabric and try different widths from each manufacturer to be sure. Note that these diagonal band manufacturers are calibrated in millimeters, not inches. I have a science background so I don't scare but I should have thought about it first. that all my quilting rulers are in inches and that I would need to remember or write down the inch equivalent of each of the metric sizes. I used a label printer to place these equivalents on the lid of the case. I have no idea how to use the included sewing foot. Instructions would be nice here too. I'll have to do another web search to find this info, but I'm tired of looking for bandwidth so I'll leave that for another day. Overall, the kit looks well made and is worth the cost, but it's not intuitively obvious how to use it right out of the box. Width of fabric (twice the finished width - for example, for a finished width of 18mm, start with a 36mm wide strip) and use the bias tape foot. Unfortunately now I have to deduct the stars for actually trying to use this product in real life. I cut a 1.5cm wide strip. All the YouTube demos I found for this type of presser foot use only one layer of fabric. I suspect they're just not made for terrycloth. I am far less satisfied with this product than I initially thought. I don't know if I'll buy Clover tape drives (kind of the gold standard) to replace them or not. Only 2 clovers cost the same as this whole set. As for the sewing foot, for example, Brother's original SA198 adjustable slant foot costs $25 to $35 - much more than this set. I doubt because I don't know if it works better with heavier fabrics like terry than this one. I have a benign tremor in my hands so hand binding is out of the question. I have to figure out how to do this with a sewing machine.

Pros
  • Bias maker
Cons
  • Very expensive
