Review on πŸ”† Lithonia Lighting PT2U MV Silver 9-Cell Volt Parabolic Troffer: High-Quality 2x2 Foot Light Fixture by Stacey Roberts

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This is a parabolic light. The price is overpriced like any other commercial light.

I bought this to replace an old Lithonia parabolic light. The old light's ballast had failed and based on its location I figured I'd just replace the entire light with a new one and take care of replacing the grounding ballast. Pros: Comes with a quick release connector. No wire nuts required! It literally took 20 seconds from the moment I climbed the stairs to the moment I installed this light, plugged it in and plugged the bulbs into it. Maybe just 15 seconds. Wire nuts aren't a big deal, but they are MUCH nicer and easier to work with. Cons: price. When you see all the rough edges and cheap materials, they (like all commercial lighting) are overpriced. This is not really a disadvantage of this particular light as it is designed that way, but all parabolic lights shine the light straight down with minimal lateral spread. Because of this, it can create the appearance of a cave. Again, this is a disadvantage of these types of mounts in general. Lithonia ES8 fixtures are much better at directing light sideways and we use these fixtures in some of our offices.

Pros
  • lighting and ceiling fans
Cons
  • unreliable
