Great transition blanket!

I bought this backpack as a second backpack for my child when I need to wash him. He hardly ever gets swaddled anymore, but he's used to sleeping with both hands by his sides because he'll toss and turn and wake up. I was successfully able to transition from wrapping both hands to outstretched left arm and now both arms are outstretched and he is successfully napping. I have a couple of medium sized Halo sleeping bags when he outgrows them but I knew I couldn't move straight to someone with arms outstretched and his sleep was a little poor so I turned to the sleeping bag to help with the transition to help. I can change his diaper before feeding or even put him there when he is sleepy. However, I don't close the bodice, I just pull it up to the chest and fold back the cotton flaps. It woke up completely when I tried to click, so I just adjusted it and everything was fine. There is a zipper at the bottom for changing diapers, but you don't really have much room to stretch the fabric so it doesn't bunch up when you change it, so I just take it out to change. I know the lovesack version is very similar but has a zipper which is better for changing. I just don't like how the top is on them - I don't think I can wrap it like I did with this version. The backpack is easy to clean just be sure to fasten the velcro as it will snag on things so I try not to wash it with micro terrycloth or muslin blankets. Good with other fabrics. I've only used it to sleep so far. My child always ends up stretching his arms out. If I used this on both hands he wouldn't get them out and it would wake him up if he tried, but one hand was enough to keep him sleeping. He was only able to get his other arm out once when he was snuggled up, but now I stretched both arms out from the start, so it's not a problem. Wrapping it around his chest helped him feel somewhat secure as his arms are now stretched out. All in all, this is a great diaper that will help your little one learn to sleep with their arms outstretched without suffering during sleep.
