Age and lack of storage care will cause rubber to tear like this. Microphone works good

I received the microphone and found that the rubber at the base of the connector to the radio breaks when you press it. Age and lack of storage care will cause rubber to tear like this. The microphone works perfectly. I'm just wondering how old this article really is.
