I used this in my PowerEdge 2950 III. I have a 6 hot swap drive bay model, but I wanted to make the OS independent of RAID. I ended up enabling one of the SATA connectors on the motherboard and using that to connect it to an unused Molex connector on the front of the case (I think it was meant for a floppy drive). It was long enough that I could route it through standard wire conduit over the heat shield/fan area and then use a Molex to SATA power adapter. I installed a SATA SSD on the back next to the motherboard and now I have installed Datacenter and Hyper-V on the SSD independently of the RAID Server 2012 R2. Mission accomplished.
