Review on 🎧 Samson Technologies SR850: High-Quality Black Semi Open-Back Studio Headphones by Paul Letho

Revainrating 5 out of 5

What surprised me the most was a cheap purchase lately.

These headphones are very impressive in their price range, especially open-back headphones. What I find odd is that the experience I had with them is in black and white with other reviews. I'm not entirely sure if there have been any changes regarding these specific changes. Many people say that plastic is cheap. I found the durability of plastic to be ok. Doesn't seem to break down anytime soon. Comfort is also worth mentioning: many people say that these headphones are very comfortable. I personally find them tighter than most of my headphones. Not to mention the highs sound OK to me, they're not overly overdone in my opinion (maybe I'm already losing the highs haha). Something I wanted to get out of the way before proceeding. A: My opinion may be biased for some because I haven't reached my normal burn time yet (when you buy it). Now to the short but fine content of the review; Pros: - Excellent soundstage: As an open pair, you can really differentiate between different pan positions and the stereo image as a whole. 100% stereo sound is easy to hear, unlike some other closed headphones. This is also a plus if you're a gamer, it really puts you in a virtual environment. - Best Deal!: These are probably the best headphones in the sub-$50 price range. - Not too ramshackle for consumers/newbies. Manufacturer: Although these are fairly flat reference studio headphones, they still deliver great punchy and tight bass thanks to their 50mm drivers. A required attribute for each consumer. Not to mention 32 ohms impedance; That means it doesn't take much time to drive them. You can listen to them on low power devices like iPhones, MP3 players or anything that has a standard 3.5mm jack. Self-Adjusting Headband: The self-adjusting headband they use (appears to be modeled after the AKG K240). very convenient. You don't have to worry about wasting an extra minute a day fiddling with incisions and getting them right. Cons: - They clamp pretty badly: I don't think the Newton force is listed anywhere on the website, but they clamp quite hard compared to many other headphones I have/had. The ear cushions are also quite stiff, which does not contribute to the wearing comfort. I've heard they can be very comfortable, but in my case they aren't. A little too much bass: For my taste they have way too much bass compared to what I'm used to from reference studio monitors. Headphones. The frequency response curve is slightly distorted compared to other reference studio monitor headphones. No detachable cable: If the cable breaks, you have to send the entire device back. And they only have a one-year warranty. A little bleeding: If you plan to take them on a bus or something, they bleed a little. As far as I can hear, this is only the upper frequency range. The people around you can probably understand what music you're listening to, but they probably can't understand the words. This is also true if you're in a crowded area: you'll have the slightest amount of soundproofing. So if your environment acoustically mirrors that of an industrial workplace, I would recommend using the SR-950. Final Verdict: While there are a few downsides here and there (some of them personal or situational), you can't beat them. for the price range. If you have any doubts about your future purchase, just buy them already. Ultimately, it makes up for every penny. Update: I remember either seeing it out of the corner of my eye or hearing about it in a review; but I remember someone mentioning leaving the headphones stretched out on an object the size of a human head. Just last night I put them on the back of a chair (which is quite bulky) overnight. The result was fantastic. There is no more clamping. Nada. My suggestion to anyone who is buying/having bought this: slip them over something the size of a human head, as I mentioned earlier. Something like the size of the back of the sofa is perfect. Even though the clip is gone, there's still a very annoying ear cup at 2 o'clock.
