Review on Garmin Vivomove HR: Stylish Hybrid Smartwatch for Both Men and Women - Silver with Tan Italian Leather by Agung Budiyanto ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is at the level, I am satisfied with everything.

Decided to switch to a hybrid watch after two years with a Samsung Gear S3 and before that two years with an LG Watch R (on Wear OS). LG watches did not survive the next swim in the sea, and Samsung was fed up with the rapid discharge of the battery. If you need a smart watch with the most complete functionality, then choose only Wear OS watches. Samsung watches formally also have an open operating system and you can install third-party applications, but almost all of them are obscene or do almost nothing (how do you like the . Navigator application, which can only show the traffic score number?). And although the Gear S3 has initially limited functionality (no Google Assistant, no normal maps and much more), they also need to be used very carefully, because. the battery behaves unpredictably, with no apparent connection with the use of hours (sometimes -50% for an hour in the morning, then it remains 50% after a working day). Garmin watches have covered most of my smartwatch needs, most notably an always-on watch face (non-hybrid smartwatches usually can't support a full day watch face). They're lightweight, read notifications, and look good (my wife would love one too). Most of the minuses of the watch can be corrected with software improvements, I hope the company will not leave the product without development. I bought in July 2022 for 15 thousand in the official Garmin store with the expectation of warranty support, if needed. The overall impression is now excellent, I recommend buying it to those who understand that a hybrid watch is a fitness bracelet in a regular watch, and not a small phone on hand.

Pros
  • - light compared to other smart watches; - laconic design; - my pedometer data matched with other trackers, and the floors are finally counted correctly (unlike Samsung Gear S3); - the typical size of the strap makes it easy to change it; - they live quietly for a week on one charge (I don’t turn it off and don’t take it off at night), and then they switch to just a clock mode (they write that they can work like this for up to two weeks); - convenient charging - USB can be plugged into anything, no need to keep a cradle on the table for them. And it’s not difficult to get postings once a week for two hours. Can also be charged in the car; - a good perceived quality - nothing irritates anywhere, the materials are without comments, there are no obvious shortcomings; - close most of the smart watch tasks in terms of monitoring activity and receiving notifications; - you can configure from which applications on your phone to receive notifications, and from which not; - automatic brightness almost always sets a comfortable level; - charging is common for a number of Garmin models, it is on sale. There is even an analogue on Aliexpress; - no buttons - no accidental wrist presses; - the general feeling of a thoughtful product. For example, when you turn on the screen with a gesture, the arrows remain in place even if they overlap the screen. And if you swipe across the screen - the arrows will stand at 10:10 (looks good).
Cons
  • I didn’t find any special shortcomings for several weeks of use, I’ll write a few small quibbles. - the main thing is that you cannot read a message on the watch and mark it as read (at least on a Samsung phone). Can only be read and closed; - you can not choose a weather forecast provider, the built-in forecast does not really match reality; - you can not choose the order of displayed widgets (but you can choose which ones to hide); - there used to be complaints about the lack of the 2022 language and a small set of tracked exercises, but now there is a 2022 language and you can create different types of classes through the Connect application; - since the arrows change positions when unlocking and turning off the screen, sometimes they may not be exactly. There is an arrow calibration in the menu, perfectionists can do it regularly. If not done, the arrows themselves can return to the correct position; - from the point of view of the watch, "do not disturb" is the same "sleep". Therefore, if I want the clock not to flash the screen at night, I can only send them to sleep, but then they can calculate this time as the start time for sleep and the application will have to set that no, I did not go to bed so early; - the player widget does not show the title of the song, although in theory one line could be inserted; - when you open a message on the watch, it does not scroll automatically, you have to scroll through it with your hand; - the clock measures the phases of sleep, so it could have a smart alarm clock, but it is not; - no payment via NFC; - if the phone is rebooted, then the Connect application requires you to open it and start synchronization. Doesn't know how to sync in the background; - sometimes the watch, having been at a distance from the phone, resets some of the settings. I have a back reminder to warm up and an alarm clock; - (figures for the summer of 2022) prices in 2022 are significantly overpriced. For example, in Kazakhstan, all versions of the Sport version can be bought for 13 thousand (in 2022 now 20), and the Premium version - for 20 (in 2022 - 30); - no information on battery replacement. Perhaps in a few years the clock will die for good.
