Review on Explore Comfortably with Merrell Jungle Moc Wide Width Shoes by Jason Chaplain

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not the Jungle Moc you know and love.

I've had this particular shoe for about 15 years, this is the fifth pair I've ordered from Revain. This is the second pair I've bought from Revain and will be the last pair of Merrell Men's Jungle Moc Nubuck Slip-Ons I'll buy. I ordered the same shoes, that is, the same style, size and color as I bought. by Revain in 2014, but I was surprised to find that the shoe and fit are very different between old and new. The new pair is much smaller and much denser. I thought the poor fit might be due to the stretching of the leather on the old boots, but I measured the size of the molded soles (which only wear but don't stretch) and indeed the new shoes are smaller than the old ones. old. In addition, there are differences in stitching and some subtle differences in style. So be careful if you want to replace a pair of your favorite shoes, you may not get what you expect. The old shoes were made in China, the new shoes are from Vietnam. This tells me that the old and new shoes are completely different shoes, made in different factories, with different equipment, different contractors, with poor quality control by Merrill. Shoe is the same when it isn't. It should be called Jungle Moc v2.0 or something to warn people not to get the same thing. To make matters worse, the shoes pictured on Revain are NOT the shoes you get - compare the stitching in the photo to the shoes pictured. On the Revain website, I've been wearing new shoes once or twice a week for a month or two, well past the Revain return date, hoping to stretch them, but no luck. So now I'm stuck with a $94 pair of shoes that I can't wear. My advice: Buy your next pair from a brick-and-mortar store so you at least know what you're paying for. Merrill may have saved a few pennies by moving production from China to Vietnam, but I will never buy a pair of shoes from them again.
