My son originally bought this mouse for gaming in 2014 and he really liked it. I must have checked it some time ago. Sometime in the last year he replaced it with a fancier one with more features for his new gaming PC. At this point it started acting a little strange, wandering pointer, errant clicks and the like. I inherited it and used it to replace a very bad mouse that I only had for regular computers. As a result, it got to the point that I decided to replace it myself. In fact I went back to the original order and bought it again because it took almost FOUR YEARS! The replacement came and it worked great, but I did notice a strong electrical smell. It smelled just like my son's xBox power supply when it broke. I tried to figure out what it was, expecting it to be a computer or other electronic device, but it turned out to be a mouse. It was strange, because neither the mouse nor the cord were warm at all, but so strong that they stuck to the fingers even after washing. So I swapped the spare. This one arrived and I actually noticed the same smell when I took it out of the box without even plugging it in. At that moment I wondered if it was just the materials or the construction. I use it and it works great and I've noticed the smell has been greatly reduced. I don't understand why the first replacement smelled worse the longer I used it, but the second replacement seems to be less. Now it's imperceptible unless you actually sniff the mouse. (I know how weird that sounds!) My son said he didn't notice the smell at all from the first time. In terms of performance, it's just as good as the very first one we bought. It's very responsive, especially when you change the speed settings to your liking. It works on a regular table, no special surface is required. I use it for general computing and light gaming and it feels good in my hand even after a long time. I recommend this, just beware of the possible smell.
