Strong, Flexible But As Only Sides are Welded If Cut It Can Unravel

Its a solid product with openings about .2" square. The mesh is only welded on four sides and all the wires inside are simply woven around each other. So if you cut it it can lose integrity and the individual wires can work back and forth. Cutting one side we found is no problem and the 3 other welded sides still hold it together, however if you cut 2 sides then the wires no longer are held firmly and easily slide around. In that case, depending on your project one might need to clamp the ends to secure the wires. We have a few uses for the mesh one being as a first filter for recovering bees wax. Its has just the right size and flexibility to force into the top of a pot of heated water. We can set the wax combs on top of it and let the melting wax slowing drip and combine in the water below keeping the bigger pieces of debris out. We would later repeat the process with finer mesh. The steel mesh works much better then gauze as gauze holds too much of the wax reducing the amount to recover. We also have a problem bird feeder that gets taken over by large band tailed pigeons we call bully pigeons and they chase all the other smaller birds away. We used mesh to create a roof barrier to the seed. In this case we had to cut the mesh and to prevent unraveling of the wires we clamped the cut end between 2 pieces of wood.
