Purchased to reduce humidity in our RV. I wanted a reliable unit, not one of the cheapest non-compressor units. It's great for dehydration. I am very happy with its power. Mind you, I'm using this for a 250 square foot area (much smaller than the rating), but the area is poorly insulated. Two issues: (1) minor: the light is too bright. You have to close the display at night (2) essential: I almost returned it for this reason, but I found a solution. I need to use the drain hose for permanent dehumidification. If the hose isn't perfectly sloped and water collects anywhere in the hose, the drain won't work! It diverts the water in the bucket and shuts off when the bucket is full. This is due to the air pressure created between the spout and where water collects. I solved this problem by making a tiny hole in the top of the hose just before it connects to the dryer outlet. Now the water is draining because the air pressure has been released. Of course, if your hose is perfectly angled downwards, you won't have any problems. In my case the hose had to go down, then up a little, then down. Now I am happy with the device, it keeps my RV dry.
