Does the job! Some micro USB cables just don't work with the Kindle Fire HD 7 tablet, but this one definitely does. It fits snugly into the port (I can hear a nice little "ping" when it's docked) and charges at a pretty good rate. I bought this based on another buyer's comment that it fits the Kindle Fire HD 7 and I'm happy to confirm that it fits. (I've tried every other micro-USB cable in my house, and most didn't work to charge the Fire HD 7; I was afraid I'd have to abandon my tablet entirely.) I only had them for a week, so Can't really speak to durability, but there is a reinforcement where the cable enters the connector, so I'm hoping they have a reasonable lifespan. However, I've found that 10 feet is way too long for my needs, so I'm now looking for a shorter cable to use. However, I am very happy that I can now recharge my Kindle and read all my e-books instead of having to replace a non-chargeable tablet.
