It fits on an orthopedic mattress, but barely.

Bought for my daughter's bed during nighttime accidents. It's a little thinner than I expected but it's holding up well so far. I was able to put it on an orthopedic mattress, but with difficulty. I had to stand the mattress on end and rock it from side to side. I was afraid it would break, but it didn't. At least for now. When first taken out of the packaging, it smells faintly of plastic, like a new shower curtain. Not bad, but if you're sensitive to odors, you can let it air out for a day or two before using.
