Given the alternatives (mostly flat padded inserts or unpadded covers) this is the only option we actually have for our mini crib - have daughters. our cheap (thin, durable) mini crib mattress with minimal buckling and everything lies (and stays) flat and snug against the sides of the crib with little pressure. The upholstery is in very good condition and is still soft and not lumpy. It actually seems more comfortable than the sheets we put over it and I wonder why we use them at all. We've been using this successfully for about a year, although frequent/daily washing has only started in the last few months - since teething. often left puddles of saliva after sleeping/nights. Unfortunately, after just 5 minutes on a medium dryer (rather than the usual low), the waterproof layer completely peeled off, one seam at a time. From previous experience with waterproof items, I understand that higher temperatures can cause problems over time. However, this problem can be avoided with the position of the seam, especially since the other 3 sides are still firmly connected. I'll buy two more so we don't run into 'hurry up and dry it off'.
