The problem is the odd little built in rear hopper that contents are poured through - it adds to the height of this bin making it unsuitable for things like cereal and dog pellets getting stuck in the hopper . I would love this for storing sugar - something very fine-grained that crumbles easily - in my pantry - the only place in my kitchen that fits the height of this thing. Pouring sugar makes this funnel very handy. I will never use a small measuring cup as a lid for this container - the ergonomics just aren't as good as a regular measuring cup. fill setting. And that is my recommendation to you.
