Bought my tank in April with high hopes. Little did I know that what was included in the kit wasn't enough to keep a betta alive. When I lived in the Pacific Northwest the temperatures were cool and I had to purchase a heater to bring the water temperature up to something that looked livable for my betta. Then I had to buy additional accessories for the aquarium because the bettas need a hiding place to feel relaxed and healthy. my tank. My first fish died after two weeks so I bought a water test kit and found the ammonia level was 8ppm which is way too high for a betta to stay healthy. He also showed that the nitrite level (second phase of the nitrogen cycle) was still 0 ppm, meaning that no biological filter was installed. I cleaned the tank, rebuilt it as directed (had to buy a new bottle of Zym Bac) and I've been with my new fish for two weeks now and the same cycle repeats itself. With high ammonia content, nitrite and nitrate-free. I would not recommend this aquarium. I had high hopes but now I think I spent a lot of money trying to make something work which ended up in me failing. Maybe there is a solution, if so I haven't found it. I put the picture right after the installation with my first fish. Rest in peace Chompers.
