My first impression is that the case is huge, which of course affects portability, especially when carrying the case in jeans pockets. The lid is a bit loose and doesn't hold up. However, the case closes magnetically and securely as the buds stayed inside when shaken. I appreciate the matte white finish as it repels fingerprints well. There are 4 battery status LEDs on the front, which is nice, and a USB-C port on the right. Unfortunately, there's no Qi wireless charging option. Visually, I like the teardrop design of the buds. I also appreciate the subtle branding on the touchpads. I will say the kidneys stick out a bit and I personally would like them to be closer to the jawline. This affects how securely the earbuds stay in my medium-sized ears. No matter what size earbuds I've tried, I often adjust them while running or exercising, which can be distracting. However, I found them comfortable for regular walks and lounging. They have an IPX4 sweat protection rating, which is the standard for most headphones. Speaking of sweat, Altec Lansing claims these headphones are 99.9% antimicrobial, and since I can't confirm that, it's just nice to know. I believe the Nanobuds come with Bluetooth 5.0 (I couldn't find that anywhere). Quick paring worked as it should and I kept the contact at a reasonable distance. There were no noticeable lags or sync issues. The battery life is better than expected. 7 hours on a single charge should be enough for most activities. Case adds another 21 hours, which is impressive. I haven't found anything good about the quick charge feature. The connection quality is good. It's not the best I've tried, but I had no problems making calls as I was heard well, albeit with some ambient noise. Active noise cancellation is also ok. While it doesn't drown out everything, even some low frequencies, it worked well enough to enjoy what I was listening to at the time. Ambient mode is pleasant and doesn't affect the sound much. The touch control panel is accessible, responsive and intuitive. I'm glad everything can be done through the headphones, including volume, which is important to me. But what impressed me was the sound quality. Yes, the sound signature is geared towards mass listening, as the bass is fairly powerful and deep while the highs are boosted. However, the mids are still present, allowing vocals and rhythm instruments to come through clearly. There was no noticeable distortion at higher volumes and I felt no fatigue. I've just found that warm sound is easy to enjoy no matter what I'm listening to, including movies and games. Unfortunately, there's no accompanying app, so the controls and sound aren't customizable. Ultimately, I believe the Nanobuds ANC is a strong offering from Altec Lansing. Design, fit and sound performance are very subjective but I think they capture all aspects well. At the current price, I don't think most people will be disappointed.
