Not as good as the original part for my old machine

My machine is a Singer 5817. I believe it came out in the early 1990's. At least I got it again. Over the years I've used the same bobbin case that came with the machine from the factory. I had a problem with it for the first time last weekend and two small pieces of it broke off. I ordered this part. It seems to fit, but I could tell the new replacement was not as long as the one that came with my car. The new one jumped a little. I was able to do a straight stitch with this bobbin case, but I like to use twin needles and elastic thread (similar to wool-nylon thread) in the bobbin for hemming jerseys. This new bobbin case will not work if there is elastic thread in the bobbin. This always ruins the stitches and breaks the needle. And twin needles are not cheap. I think it's impossible to find a bobbin case exactly like the original that came with my machine unless I find new "old stock". I ended up using epoxy from JB Weld to glue the chips back onto my old bobbin case and it's working well so far. I can sew with elastic thread without any problems. I just can't use these new replacement parts. They can work for you in your car. But they just aren't made like the old ones. So, especially if your car is newer than I am sure they are perfect for you.
