Review on πŸŽ₯ GVM RGB Video Lighting with Bowens Mount - All-in-One LED Light Kit for YouTube, Studio, and Interviews – 8 Modes, Dimmable, Bi-Color, Continuous Output by Angel Henderson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

An improvement over the old version - but still a little disappointed

Overview I use these lights for music videos, talk shows, interviews and promotions. I have two older versions of these lights and was a little hesitant to spend $467 on these lights, but then Revain offered an $80 discount coupon that brought them close to the price of the original version, so I decided to give them a try. . I've encountered too many situations where two wasn't enough and I thought 4 would be perfect. The new clasp is much better. Power adapter. I had to buy a rubber sleeve for a water bottle and plug the power adapter in, then hang it on a stand to take the weight off the cord. The new version is much better.-RGB. Of course this feature is great in both versions, RGB is much more useful than just daylight and offers endless color possibilities. The colors in the new version are much richer and truer than in the previous version. - Build Quality - Build quality is acceptable, better is always better of course, but I think you get what you pay for with these lights. - Light Effects. - I think it's pretty cool, but I'm only interested in paparazzi because it's a stroboscopic effect that can be useful for music videos. BAD - No umbrella holder - this is the most disappointing missing feature for me. Umbrella diffusers are so compact and easy to use that the new version still lacks the option to attach an umbrella. I'm sure I could have tweaked something, but at this price point it would be easy to include. - Slight mismatch is a big problem for me. If you have an earlier version, the colors of this light will not match the previous version. So if you wanted a line of 4 lights (2 old and 2 new) to illuminate your talent it would be pretty obvious that they are different colors. It's very annoying and it's the only reason you stick with a brand. Daylight Kelvin fits, but not RGB. - Light Effects - They came so close to making them really cool. Why can't you change the color of the light effects? I want to attach it to a flash and be able to choose from RGB options. They have "party" modes that flash through RGB, but you can't just pick blue or red, for example, and then set that to strobe. Maybe I need to read the manual, maybe I missed it somewhere. The lighting modes have strange names and most of them are barely usable, like the candle and TV effect, I couldn't even tell what they were for. A much better approach would be to simply add a "strobe" mode, allowing the user to select a color or colors and a delay between flashes. I don't know if they can get firmware updates but if they can it would be easy to add them. Brightness. The brightness is a big disappointment, I checked all the specs before buying but as the lumen output is not listed for the original version I had no way of telling if this one was brighter, I even emailed GVM and got no reply. As soon as you apply a modifier to this light source and set it to daylight, the light output drops to almost zero. I think a silver lined reflective umbrella would be an effective way to diffuse those lights. However, they do not include an umbrella holder. A good buy if you know what you are getting and what can be improved. For those who have already invested in the old version and simply need more light, I think it is better to buy the old version as the RGB colors in the new version are clearly not the same as the old version. All the new features are great, but if you can't evenly light the scene then nothing else matters. There are things you can do to cover up the discrepancy, e.g. E.g. to use different colors, omit part of the camera etc. but at these prices you shouldn't do that. t should. If you really need to fill the scene with blue, orange, or pink, you don't have to worry about which version of the lights you use. She. I'll probably stick with the ceiling reflection for the diffusion if I leave this light on.
